FIKE 2009 is open to short Fiction, Animation and Documentary films which have been produced after January 1st 2008, with up to 40 minutes of total running time.

The festival has made some changes in its competitions. Debuting this year is the NRW Competition, featuring productions from the festival's home state of North Rhine-Westphalia.
Short Film News (SFN) - Glimmer: The 7th Hull International Short Film Festival announced lineup is made up of more than 200 short films, among them around 50 World, International, European and UK premieres. The Anthony Minghella Awards for Best International and UK Short will see movies from intense drama to hilarious animation, all compete for the award. The Glimmer Award for Best Yorkshire Short and Glimmer Award for Best Hull Short also will be presented.
Short Film News (SFN) - Film Independent announced the launch of the @15 Short Film Contest, a new initiative designed to increase the opportunities for young filmmakers to get their films seen by a wider audience. Presented by Best Buy, the @15 Short Film Contest is open to filmmakers ages 13-18, and there is no entry fee. The final deadline is April 15.
