
Short Film News (SFN)- Burma VJ – Reporting from a Closed Country, a documentary by Anders Ostergaad and a co-production of Denmark, Sweden, England, and Norway, was announced as the most successful documentary in IDFA this year.
The film won Joris Ivens Award, which is the most important award in this festival, and the Movies that Matter Human Rights Award.
Boris Ryzhy by Aliona van der Horst received the Silver Wolf Award as the best semi-feature film.
For the first time, the Silver Wolf jury also presented a Special Jury Award to Lady Kul el Arab (Ibtisam Mara'ana).
The Silver Cub Competition, for documentaries up to 30 minutes, went to Slaves – An Animated Documentary (Hanna Heilbronn and David Aronowitsch).
Andrei Dascalescu received the First Appearance Award for Constantin and Elena that is a co-production of Romania and Spain.
IDFA Student Award went to Shakespeare and Victor Hugo´s Intimacies by Yulene Olaizola from Mexico.
Kassim the Dream by Kief Davidson won DOC U! Award and the Audiance Award was dedicated to RiP - A Remix Manifesto by Brett Gaylor from Canada.
The 21st edition of IDFA kicked off on 20th november and is going to be finished today by showing its last films.
