Short Film News (SFN)- The Tribeca Film Festival will get off to a musical start this year, with Tom Berninger's documentary, "Mistaken for Strangers," slated to open the festival's 12th annual edition, festival organizers said Thursday.
Mr. Berninger is the younger brother of Matt Berninger, the lead singer of the Brooklyn indie-rock group the National, and his film follows the group on a recent world tour, chronicling his experiences with the band and, more specifically, with his brother.
"Mistaken for Strangers" is Mr. Berninger's feature directorial debut. Produced by Oscar-nominated filmmaker Marshall Curry, Matt Berninger, Carin Besser and Craig Charland, it takes its name from a song on the National's 2007 album, "The Boxer."
This year's Festival kicks off April 17 and runs until April 28.
