Short Film News (SFN)- An Iranian Doc is going to participate in the 19th annual edition of Hot Docs Film Festival.
This year, the festival screened 2,311 documentaries, the most submissions in its 19-year history. After "watching each movie twice," Charlotte Cook, Hot Docs director of programming, revealed 189 films will show this year; including entries from 51 countries, and 40 Canadian films. But while the total number of films to see is down from last year, the number of world and Canadian premieres is up; something McDonald says was done to make the festival "more accessible" for a wider audience.
