One World Festival Announces Opening Film

Short Film News (SFN) - Anders Ostergaard's award-winning documentary Burma VJ - Reporting From a Closed Country will open the 11th One World Human Rights Film Festival in Prague, Czech Republic.

The documentary which won IDFA 2088 Joris Ivens Award in November, is about a young Burmese reporter who decided to make a detailed record of anti-government demonstrations in September 2007 together with some colleagues.

The opening screening will be attended by its Ostergaard and the deputy director of the Democratic Voice of Burma Khin Maung Win.

The festival organizers also announced that the Grand Jury comprise Marie-Pierre Duhamel (France), Gerhard Kroske (Germany), Tonička Jankova (Czech Republic), John Akomfrah (Great Britain), and Alexandru Solomon (Romania).

The jury will award the Best Film and Best Director prizes to the winners.

One World Film Festival will be held March 11-19 in Prague and then travel to 29 towns and cities throughout the Czech Republic.
