Sundance Announces "Stories of Change" Winners

Short Film News (SFN) - Sundance Institute announced the first five grant recipients of the Stories of Change: Social Entrepreneurship in Focus Through Documentary initiative, a partnership with the Skoll Foundation designed to explore the role of film in advancing knowledge about social entrepreneurship.

The development and production grant awards support the creation of feature-length independent documentary films that examine social entrepreneurship as an innovative approach to the central challenges of our time.

Stories of Change received more than 300 film projects from around the world. The advisory committee included CNN Chief International Correspondent Christiane Amanpour, documentary filmmaker Eugene Jarecki and Skoll Foundation senior advancement officer Sandy Herz.

The five awarded projects are:
Back to School, Producer: Julia Parker Benello

Green Shall Overcome, Director: Tracy Heather Strain/Co-Director: Megan Gelstein

Poor Consuelo, Director: Peter Friedman, Producer: Paul Miller

The Team, Director: Patrick Reed, Producer: Peter Raymont

Youthbuild Documentary, Director: Annie Sundberg
