
Short Film News (SFN) - Iranian film, Prisoner of War 57187 won the top short film prize at the 4th Al Jazeera International Documentary Film Festival, which wrapped up yesterday in Doha.
The 29-minute film, directed by Vahid Zare Zade, is about an Iraqi soldier who was captured during the Iran-Iraq war. The soldier decided to stay in Iran even after the war ended.
Australian feature documentary, Forbidden Lies by Anna Broinowski, which is about honor killings in Jordan won Golden Award in long films category.
Who Am I, a 49-minute documentary by Italian Ingrid Demetz and Caroline Leitner won the Al Jazeera Golden Award in the medium films category.
The Jury Award went to The Thirst of a Stone Sea by Vladimir Perovic, Fighting the Silence by Elisabet and Femke Van Velzen, and Life on the Line by Ricardo Padilla in the long, medium and short-film categories respectively.
About 90 documentaries were shown at the four-day festival, which was organized by Al Jazeera Documentary Channel.
