The First International Awards to Iran Cinema in 2008

Short Film News (SFN)- It's Always Late for Freedom and Men at Work gained the first successes in 2008 for Iran cinema by getting 2 prizes in two Asian Festivals.

It's Always Late for Freedom by Mehrdad Oskuie won the second prize in Tri-Continental Human Rights Film Festival that is held in New Delhi, India.

This film kick started the festival and Shiela Dikshit, Delhi Chief Minister, watched it as well.

The first prize of this festival went to Jihaad for Love by Parvej Sharma from India.

Also, Men at Work by Mani Haqiqi won the jury award in the 10th Dhaka Film Festival in Bangladesh.

Competing in the main competition section of the festival it won the most important prize of the festival and they praised a Bangladeshi film.

The 10th International Dhaka Film Festival took place from 10 to 18 January and although it was announced that 100 films were going to be shown in 11 sections of this festival, only 33 films were screened.
 
The festival organizers announced that the bureaucratic problems and Bangladesh government's lack of cooperation were the reasons of this problem. Dhaka Festival is the greatest cinema event in Bangladesh.
