An Iranian Documentary in IDFA's Joris Ivens Competition

Short Film News (SFN) - Red Card by Mahnaz Afzali is going to be presented in Joris Ivens competition of 19th edition of International Documentary Festival Amsterdam (IDFA).

Joris Ivens competition is the most important competition in IDFA and the documentaries that are at least 60 minutes in length are competing for it.

The jury of this competition would select the winners for Joris Ivens award and also the Special Jury Award.

The other competitions of this festival are Silver Wolf Competition (for short documentaries of less than 60 minutes in length), Silver Cub Competition (for short documentaries of less than 30 minutes in length) and First Appearance.

After a long gap, Red Card is the first Iranian documentary to be participated in IDFA's Joris Ivens competition.

It is a 74-minute documentary about the life and the court of Shahla Jahed who received death sentence for murdering the wife of Nasser Mohammadkhani, the ex-footballer of Iran football team.

Being participated in IDFA it will be the world premiere of Red Card as well.

The 19th edition of IDFA is going to be from 23 November to 3 December 2006.
