
Short Film News (SFN) - The Cinema Eye Honors for Nonfiction Filmmaking announced that 15 feature documentaries have been named to the 2008 Cinema Eye Awards shortlist.
Films that were named to the shortlist received the highest vote totals across nine categories from nominations committee which was comprised of 15 festival programmers of nonfiction films.
"These fifteen films represent every facet of nonfiction filmmaking, from classic cinema verite to films that employ animation, actors and narrative storytelling in often groundbreaking ways," said Cinema Eye Honors co-chair AJ Schnack. "This shortlist is a terrific kickoff for this year's awards."
Co-chair Thom Powers added, "In this second year of Cinema
Eye, we're eager to take the positive energy from last year's event and continue to grow this celebration of cinematic excellence."
Nominations for the 2nd Annual Cinema Eye Honors will be announced January 19, 2009 in Park City, Utah. The Honors will be presented March 29, 2009 in New York City.
