Two Iranian Films at Middle East Int'l Film Festival

Short Film News (SFN)- The Middle East International Film Festival unveiled the lineup of the feature-length narratives and documentaries with two Iranian Films among them.

All in all 33 narrative and documentary features will vie for more than $1m in Black Pearl awards.

All My Mothers by Ebrahim Saeedi and Zahavi Sanjavi from Iran/Iraq is in Documentary Feature Competition and also Iranian filmmaker Bahman Ghobadi with No One Knows About Persian Cats is in Feature Competition.

Peter Scarlet, the festival’s new Executive Director commented, “A film festival’s competition selections are the heart of its program, and we’re extremely proud to have assembled such a strong slate, especially with half these competing titles coming from the Middle East and North Africa, and the filmmakers who made them having an opportunity to have their work judged alongside work from the rest of the world.

It’s also extremely encouraging that eleven films in each of these competitions are by filmmakers making their first or second work.”

The 9th Middle East International Film Festival will take place from October 8 to 17 and full list of the official selection is available at festival's website: www.meiff.com
