
Short Film News (SFN) - The Dubai International Film Festival is going to support world peace by screening of Jeremy Gilley's documentary The Day After Peace.
The feature-length documentary charts 10-year journey of Gilley to establish a globally recognized annual day of ceasefire and non-violence, and features Jude Law, Angelina Jolie, Dalai Lama, Annie Lennox and Kofi Annan, which all of them contribute Gilley.
The film will screen at sidebar Rhythm and Reels and under the patronage of Princess Haya, wife of Dubai ruler Sheik Mohammed al-Maktoum. Princess Haya was recently named a U.N. messenger of peace.
In 1981 and 2001 The United Nations General Assembly adopted resolutions establishing the 21st of September as International Day of Peace and urging all nations and people to commemorate the Day as an opportunity to promote peaceful resolutions of conflicts and to honor a cessation of hostilities during the day.
The Day After Peace will be showcased at the Royal Albert Hall in London on this day. The screening will be followed by musical performances from Annie Lenox, Bryan Adams and John Legend, among other special guests.
The fifth edition of the Dubai International Film Festival will run December 11-18 in UAE.
