Short Film News (SFN)- The 8th edition of America Tiburon Film Festival is going to screen 250 short films, features, and documentaries from 90 countries.
The festival which is going to take place in Tiburon of California is going to be the host of some films by Iranian filmmakers that are citizen in different European countries.
The Iranian documentaries in this festival are: Cyanosis by Rokhsareh Ghaemmaghami and Final Fitting by Reza Haeri and The Final Word, a semi-long documentary by Moslem Mansouri.
Loose Rope, the second fiction by Mehrshad Karkhani and Goodbye Solo whose story goes on in New York and is made by Ramin bahrani are the two Iranian long fictions in this festival.
Tehran Backyard by Roxanna Pope that is about the people living on the outskirts of Tehran, Smiling Dog by Shohreh Jandaghian, and Nomad’s Land by Gael Metroz that is about the journey of Nicolas Bouvier from Geneva to Sri Lanka via Turkey, Iran, Pakistan, etc. are the other films related to Iran in Tiburon Festival.
The festival organizers have decided to pay tribute to the Oscar winning director and cinematographer Haskell Wexler. He was the cinematographer of famous films such as One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, In the Heat of the Night, and Coming Home and he won his Oscar awards for cinematographing Bound for Glory by Hal Ashby and Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? by Mike Nicols.
The Award will be dedicated to Wexler by George Lucas, the famous Holly Wood filmmaker and producer. They have been friends from when they were teenagers and Wexler had an important role in Lucas’s interest to cinema.
Tiburon Festival is going to take place from 19th till 27th March.
