Short Film News (SFN) - Iranian short doc Cat and Mouse won the UCCA (Unione Circoli Cinematografici Arci) award at the 49th Festival Dei Popoli in Italy.
The Jury presents the award for the Short Film Competition to Cat and Mouse by Bijan Zamanpira and Nahid Ghobadi and La Favola del Pennello by Andreas Kassel from Sweden. The winning films will be screened in Arci film clubs in 20 cities in Italy.
In the Feature Documentary Competition, the international jury named Holunderblüte (Elder Blossom) by Volker Koepp from Germany as best documentary film and prize for best director went to Herz Frank for Perpetual Rehearsal.
Raymond Depardon's Modern life won best ethnographic/anthropological film award and jury gave the special mentions to Fondamenta delle Convertite from Italy and L'Empreinte from France.
The Short Documentary Competition jury awards the Lorenzo de Medici Prize for the best film to La favola del pennello by Andreas Kassel.
The audience of the 49th Festival dei Popoli selected La Forteresse by Fernard Melgar, Distancias by Pilar Monsell, and Must Read After My Death by Morgan Dews.
Festival dei Popoli took place November 14-21 in Firenze, Italy.
