Following the news regarding the sanctioning of Cannes Film Festival by the Iranian filmmakers, Mohammad Ali Najafi, announced, "In its last session, Khaneh Cinema (Cinema House) board decided on participating in Cannes film market."

Najafi, Khaneh Cinema board director, said, "In this meeting, the effects of Iranian cinema's presence or absence in Cannes 2006 were thoroughly studied."

He added, "Considering the necessity of a relationship between the Iranian cinema organizations and their counterparts from all around the world present in Cannes 2006 and the need for exchanging the knowledge in matters of cinema education and technology, and also the importance of international marketing for Iranian productions, Khaneh Cinema will participate in Cannes 2006 in the same way that it did in Berlin Film Festival; this project under the title of The Umbrella of Iranian Cinema' will be managed by Farabi Cinema Foundation."
