
Short Film News (SFN) - British filmmaker Kim Longinotto's Rough Aunties won the best feature award at the 6th Big Sky Documentary Film Festival.
The documentary is about a group of women who protect and care for the abused, neglected and forgotten children of Durban, South Africa, and the jury acclaimed "bravery of the film's characters which is mirrored by the unflinching courage of the filmmaker's vision."
In Documentary Feature competition, In a Dream by Jeremiah Zagar won an Artistic Vision award.
Best Short award went to Bronx Princess by Musa Syeed & Yoni Brook, while Artistic Vision award went to Peter Jordan's The First Kid to Learn English From Mexico.
Jennifer by Stewart Copeland got the MiniDoc competition jury's nod and Big Sky Award went to Red Gold by Travis Rummel & Ben Knight.
Each of the winner films screened during a special encore presentation Thursday, February 19, at Missoula's Wilma Theatre.
