DOK.FEST 2008 Announces Award Winners

Short Film News (SFN) - Iraqi director, Kasim Abid won the top prize of 23rd Munich International Documentary Film Festival (DOK.FEST 2008).

Abid's Life after the Fall which retell the daily life of a family in Baghdad after the fall of Saddam Hussein, received the Documentary Film Award, sponsored by the Bavarian Broadcaster Bayerischer Rundfunk and Telepool.

Also, the Special Documentary Award went to Citizen Havel by Pavel Koutecký and Miroslav Janek from Check Republic.

Indian documentary, Word Within the Word by Rajula Shah about the songs of the Indian Bhakti poets won the Horizons Prize.

Documentary Talent Award presented to director Alexander Riedel for Drauben Bleiben, while Maximilian Plettau's Comeback won the Original Version Talent Award.

DOK.FEST 2008 took place May 1-7, 2008.
