Short Film News - As the 59th Cannes Film Festival is drawing to a close, the winners of Cinefondation short film awards were announced.
Among the 17 shorts presented this year, the Cinefondation jury honored the film Ge & Zeta by the Argentinian director, Gustavo Riet, with the first prize.
The 2nd prize went to the German film, Mr. Schwartz, Mr. Hazen, and Mr. Horlocker, by Stefan Mueller. And the 3rd prize was jointly given to 2 films: Mother by Sian Heder from the US, and A Virus by Agnes Cocsis from Hungary.
The Cinefondation jury this year was presided over by the Russian filmmaker Andrei Konchalovsky, and comprised of actors Sandrine Bonnaire and Daniel Bruhl, directors Tim Burton and Souleymane Cisse, and composer Zbigniew Preisner.
Gilles Jacob and Pierre Viot created the Cinefondation in 1998 to help discover and reveal new generations of filmmakers.
