Short Film News (SFN)- Two Chinese films won the best prizes of Yamagata International Documentary Film Festival.
This festival was held from 04- 11 October in Japan and its Grand Prize in International Competition went to FENGMING A Chinese Memoir by Wang Bing.
Also Ogawa Shinsuke Prize in New Asian Currents section was given to Bingai by Feng Yan.
The Drown Sea by Yuslam Fikri Anshari from Indonesia and Back Drop Kurdistan by Nomoto Masaru, a co-production of Japan, Turkey and New Zealand, won Awards of Excellence in New Asian Currents that was a part of festival for competing works made by Asian born or citizen filmmakers.
In International Competition, in additional to the Chinese film which won the grand prize, Encounter by Pierre-Marie Goulet, a co-production of France & Portugal, won the Mayor's Prize and Potosi, The Journey by Ron Havilio and M by Nicolas Prividera won the Runner-up Prize together.
Yamagata International Documentary Film Festival is a biennial event and this year Looking Through by Maani Petgar and Golden Dances by Ali Kalantari were the films from Iran that were shown in New Asian Current of it.
