Short Film News (SFN) - Veteran director Manoel de Oliveira will be honored at the opening ceremony of Fike 2008 - Evora International Short Film Festival, organizers announced Tuesday.

The 100-year old Portuguese director recently returned to short films with the completion of three films Do Visivel Ao Invisivel, Romance de Vila do Conde and O Vitral e a Santa Morta which were recently screened at the Venice Film Festival.

Celebrating the cinema of Manoel de Oliveira and his contribution to the cinematographic art and Portuguese culture is the aim of tribute.

Brazil will be guest of next edition of Fike and a delegation of Brazilian filmmakers will be present at the festival with a special program.

A selection of short films presented by the Atibaia Audiovisual Festival and Santa Maria Audiovisual Festival will be screened in the festival's out of competition section.

The 7th edition of FIKE Festival will take place November 21-29 in Evora, Portugal.
