Short Film News (SFN)- The Doha Tribeca Film Festival has announced that the first Festival will be launched in Doha, Qatar October 29 – November 1, 2009.

The festival was announced last November through a cultural partnership between Her Excellency Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani and the Tribeca Film Festival founders Jane Rosenthal, Craig Hatkoff and Robert De Niro.

The first edition will be hosted at the Museum Of Islamic Art in Doha in association with the Qatar Museums Authority and will showcase cinema from the local Qatari community and broader Arab culture.
 
Over the long-term, The Doha Tribeca Film Festival will serve to foster, support and motivate new filmmakers and provide a platform for future year-round educational and mentoring film activities  and investment in Qatar.

Details on the programme will be announced in the Summer and Fall of 2009.
