Short Film News- "The Short List" winner of four Emmy Awards and still the only weekly series of its kind in the world, launches its 14th season this fall on most PBS stations, as well as on Cox Channel 4 in Southern California.
The 13-part, half-hour showcase features the best short films in the world. Past seasons have included works from L.A. to Tehran and from NYC to Beijing.
The average length film on the series is 8 minutes; however, films from 30 seconds to 20 minutes are also considered. Fiction, documentary and animation comprise the mix.
There are no limits on year of production, no deadlines and no entry fees. Films at many international short film festivals are reviewed.
"The Short List" is produced at San Diego State University by long-time short film advocates, Jack Ofield and Helen-Maria Erawan. Jack Ofield has produced and directed several hundred series and programs for all major networks in the U.S. and Canada and his documentaries, such as "Different Sons" (Vietnam combat veterans speak out) have been broadcast in many parts of the world.
The 14th season, set to launch this fall, will feature films from the U.S., China, Germany, France, Kyrgyzistan, Calcutta and other nations.
