Short Film News (SFN)- The ESSENCE Black Women in Hollywood Short Film Contest is back for a second year and the deadline for submissions is December 8th.
This year’s contest is aligned with ESSENCE magazine’s theme as it prepares to mark its 45th anniversary: “For the Love of Black Women.” Filmmakers are invited to submit their most creative interpretations of that theme, in shorts no longer than 20 minutes.
The winner will accept their award in the company of A-listers during the 8th annual ESSENCE Black Women in Hollywood Luncheon being held on February 19, 2015. An ESSENCE-selected portion of the film will also be screened during the luncheon, where previous guests have included such trailblazers as Oprah Winfrey, Kerry Washington, Viola Davis, Sidney Poitier, Lupita Nyong’o and others. The winner’s journey will also be chronicled on essence.com.
