Short Film News (SFN) - Irish director Darren Thornton won the European Film Academy short film prize during the European Film Awards ceremony on Saturday, December 6 in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Thornton receives the Prix UIP award for the film Frankie which narrates a 15-year old father-to-be struggle with anxiety over his impending responsibilities.
Frankie was one of 14 short films which had won the UIP award during the year at European film festivals and nominated for European Film Academy Short Film Award.
Matteo Garrone's Gomorra named most successful film at the ceremony with winning five awards includes best film, best director, best actor, best screenwriter, and best cinematographer.
Helena Trestikova who announced as the winner of European Film Academy Documentary Prix Arte earlier, received the award for her film Rene last night.
