Short Film News (SFN) - Glimmer: The 7th Hull International Short Film Festival announced lineup is made up of more than 200 short films, among them around 50 World, International, European and UK premieres.
The Anthony Minghella Awards for Best International and UK Short will see movies from intense drama to hilarious animation, all compete for the award. The Glimmer Award for Best Yorkshire Short and Glimmer Award for Best Hull Short also will be presented.
"This is one of the most packed programs that GLIMMER has ever presented and the large number of premieres shows that filmmakers are really seeing the festival as one of the most important of its kind," said Glimmer Director Laurence Boyce.
The festival will welcome John Smith, the legendary filmmaker who has been involved in the field of artist film and video since the mid 1970s, to talk about his work in the field of experimental cinema and to show a number of his films.
The animator David Firth, whose Salad Finger series of films have notched hundreds of thousands of views on YouTube, will also present a retrospective of some of his dark and twisted animations.
Glimmer will also be holding a series of industry events that will allow current filmmakers the chance to learn more about the film process. Included is the events is What Happens Next? a panel discussion that looks at the best way to market films and get it seen and will include producers Al Clark and Rachel Robey.
Also, the CASCADE Young Director's Fair will give those between the age of 9-19 the chance to find out more gaining a foothold in the film world.
