Short Film News (SFN)- Americana 67-72, In South-East Asia, The Theatre of Reality, Figures of Tourism are among the special program of the 30th edition of Cinema du Reel -International Documentary Film Festival.
This festival is going to take place from 7 till 18 March 2008 in George Pompidou center and some other halls in Paris.
The festival includes International Competition and French Competition in which about 50 documentaries are going to be screened and filmmakers would discuss about their films with the audiences.
One of the most important special programs in this festival is Americana 67-72: Something's Happening Here which is about the effects of American socio-political movements during the 5 past years on cinema screen. Some films with the theme of Vietnam war, Black empowerment, etc. are going to be shown and the program also includes tributes to Shirley Clarke and Jim McBride.
In South-East Asia is another program in which some documentaries from Philippine, Thailand, Indonesia, etc. are going to be shown and also the program includes tributes to Lav Diaz, the great Philippine filmmaker.
Image / Prison: visions from inside is about European Cinema and The Theatre Reality studies the relationship between theatre and cinema.
The other special programs of Cinema du Reel Festival are the role of tourism in cinema and the impact of HD technology on documentary cinema (image, sound, and design).
