Short Film News (SFN)- The closing ceremony of the 62nd Locarno International Film Festival took place on Saturday, August 15th 2009 at the Piazza Grande.

Golden Leopard for the best short film went to BELIEVE by Paul Wright, United Kingdom (Scotland) and Silver Leopard goes to VARIACIOK by Krisztina Esztergályos, Hungary.

Other winners are:

Golden Leopard – George Foundation Prize for the Leopards of Tomorrow National Competition
LAS PELOTAS by Chris Niemeyer, Switzerland

Silver Leopard – Kodak Prize for the Leopards of Tomorrow National Competition
NACHTSPAZIERGANG by Christof Wagner, Switzerland

Prix du Public UBS – Audience Award
GIULIAS VERSCHWINDEN by Christoph Schaub, Switzerland

Variety Piazza Grande Award
SAME SAME BUT DIFFERENT by Detlev Buck, Germany
 
Also Golden Leopard for the best festival film went to SHE, A CHINESE by Xiaolu GUO, United Kingdom/Germany/France and Alexei Mizgirev for BUBEN.BARABAN gets Special Jury Prize & Best Director Prize.
