Palm Springs ShortFest Announces Winners

Short Film News (SFN)- The winners of the 15th edition of Palm Springs International Short Film Festival were announced on Sunday.

315 short films screened throughout the Festival along with more than 2,200 filmmaker submissions available in the film market.
Award winners receiving a first place prize in four categories are automatically eligible to submit their films to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for Academy Award consideration. Over the past 14 years, the Festival has presented 64 films that have gone on to receive Academy Award nominations.

The Prize for the Best Film went to The Dinner by Karchi Perlmann from Hungary this film was an award winner in Venice Film Festival.

The Grand Jury Award went to Jonathan's Home by Nathanael Carton from Japan & Singapore.

The Future Filmmaker Award went to This is Her by Katie Wolfe from New Zealand.

The Prize for the Best Live Action Short Under 15 Minutes went to The Stars Don't Twinkle in Outer Space by Peter Thwaites from UK & The Man Inside by Rory Bresnihan from Ireland.

The Prize for the Best Live Action Short Over 15 Minutes went to The Taxidermist by Bert & Bertie & Love Hate by Dylan Ritson, Blake Ritson from UK.

The Prize for the Best Animated Short went to Cages by Juan José Medina from Mexico & Juiced and Jazzed  by Justin Webber from USA.

The Prize for the Best Documentary Short went to Irene by Lindsay Goodall from Scotland & Naming Pluto by Ginita Jimenez from UK.

Palm Springs International Short Film Festival took place from June 23 until June 29 in USA and full list of Awards is available at Festival's website: www.psfilmfest.org
