Mexican Film Wins Venice Short Film Award

Short Film News (SFN)- Mexican director Carlos Armella's Tierra y Pan won the 65th Venice Film Festival's Corto Cortissimo Lion for best short film.

The film managed to tell a dramatic story about misery and solitude in few minutes and a single space, According to the jury.

A special mention went to The Dinner by Karchi Perlmann from Hungary.

Belgian Koen Dejaegher's The Altruists won the Prix UIP for best European short film for "revealing the economic repercussions of interpersonal relationships within European society."

The Corto Cortissimo Jury at comprised of Amos Poe (President), Gianni Rondolino, and Joana Vicente.

The Venice Film Festival's main prizes will be announced Saturday, September 6.
