Short Film News (SFN) - 80 short films from 25 countries will compete in the 10th Short Shorts International Film Festival (SSFF & ASIA 2008).

The festival's Organizing Committee has selected these films among nearly 3,000 entries, and the official selections are going to be shown in 4 competition categories.

Stop! The Global Warming Competition will be officially introduced at this year's festival and screen 13 short films, which deal with global warming. International, Asian, and Japan Competition are the other competitive categories of Short Shorts.

The grand prix winner is eligible to receive a nomination under the short film category in next year's (2009) Academy Awards.

Celebrating the 10th anniversary, SSFF & ASIA 2008 will present short films from 10 acclaimed filmmakers and actors, such as George Lucas, Wong Kar Wai, Aki Kaurismaki, Robert Zemeckis, Vincent Cassel, and Walter Salles.

10th Short Shorts International Film Festival will take place from 6 to 16 June in Japan.
