Cannes 2008 Short Film Palme d'Or Goes to Romania

Short Film News (SFN) - Romanian film, Megatron by Marian Crisan won the Palme d'Or for the best short film at the 61st Cannes Film Festival.

Hou Hsiao Hsien, President of the Cinefondation and Short Film Jury, presented the prize to Romanian director in Cannes awards ceremony, tonight.

Megatron is about Maxim, 8 who lives only with his mother in a village near Bucharest. For the birthday party, his mother will take him to Bucharest, and Maxim will do anything to meet his father who lives in the city.

Also, short film jury special mention went to Jerrycan by Julius Avery fom Australia.

Avery narrates the story of Nathan, a kid who risks everything after he is bullied into making a life and death decision.
