Short Film News (SFN) - An Australian film won 54th International Oberhausen Short Film Festival's the top award.
The international jury presents the Grand Prize of the City of Oberhausen to Chainsaw by Dennis Tupicoff at festival's award ceremony.
Also, two Principal Prizes went to Alexandra by Radu Jude from Romania and Kak stat stervoi (Vixen Academy) by Alina Rudnitskaya from Russia.
French director Neil Beloufa's Kempinski won ARTE Prize for a European Short Film, while Special Mentions of the International Jury went to Running Sushi by Mara Mattuschka and Chris Haring and Jai by Anocha Suwichakornpong.
Pavel Medvedev's Nezrimoe (The Unseen) won FIPRESCI award, and prize of the Ecumenical Jury was presented to Senko (Spark) by Kawamura Yuki.
In the German Competition, Eva Konnemann's The Tragedians of the City get Prize for the best contribution, and 3sat Promotional Award went to Supersensibel by Xenia Yvon Lesniewski and I Killed the Butterflies by Cyrill Lachauer.
Koest! (Doggie!) by Simone van Dusseldorp won the top award in Children's and Youth Film Competition.
This year, Oberhausen Short Film Festival which was held May 1-6, screened 132 entries from 47 countries in four competition sections.
