Short Film News (SFN) -Joao Garcao Borges is in Iran right now as a member of jury of the international competition in Tehran 12th International and 24th National Short Film Festival.
Mr. Borges who is the programmer of RTP explains about ONDA CURTA and the 60 minutes weekly program about short film on this media.
"Our aim is to bridge the gap between countries and cultures and I hope to organize an Iranian film week in Portugal," he said.
"I can not name a special film or filmmaker as my favorites but I have seen all Kiarostami's short films and I like Life in Fog by Ghobadi so much," he indicated as an answer to a question about his favorite Iranian film or filmmaker.
"This is my first time in Iran but as I have seen Iranian film that was not a surprise to me. Iran that has pictured in Iranian films is the same as real Iran and the people here are so kind." he said.
"When I speak to Iranian people I see that there is not that much difference between the two countries. My only problem here is actually the language." He confirmed.
The Portuguese member of jury in Tehran Short Film Festival named FIKE as one of the best short film festivals in Portugal.
"This festival had some financial problems in past but now they start a new phase and our company has a close relationship with organizers of FIKE. We try to play an important role in next year festival." he concluded.
