Short Film News (SFN)- The 13th edition of Palm Springs International Festival of Short Films is finished and an English film was selected as the best film of this festival.
Soft by Simon Ellis is the English film selected as the best film of the festival, Pariah by Dee Rees from the U.S won the Future Filmmaker Award and the Panavision Grand Jury Award went to Pop Foul by Moon Molson from the U.S.
Audience Awards went to the following films: I Hate Musicals (Stewart Schill) as Audience Favorite Live Action Short, Freeheld (Cynthia Wade) as Audience Favorite Documentary Short and The Needful Head (Zeth Willie) as Audience Favorite Animation Short.
The jury announced their selected films and according to that Contact (Hanro Smitsman) from the Netherlands won the award of the Best Live Action Under 15 Minutes and the Award of the Best Live Action Over 15 Minutes went to The Tonto Woman (Daniel Barber), a co product from the U.K and Spain.
Also Madame Tutli-Putli from Canada won the Best Animation Award and Freeheld won the Best Documentary Award.
In Student Categories three films were selected and three awards were given to them.
This year, Palm Springs Festival Jury members included John Dahl, Director You Kill Me; Bijan Tehrani from Cinema Without Boarder; Rebecca Winters Keegan, “Time” magazine; Kimberly Yutani, short film programmer for the Sundance Film Festival; and Amotz Zakai from Echo Lake Entertainment.
In the 13th edition of Palm Springs International Festival of Short Films, which is the most important short film annual event in the U.S, 332 films were shown.
