The Success of East European Films in Bilbao Festival

Short Film News (SFN) - A Romanian film is the winner of Grand Prize of the 48th edition of Bilbao International Festival of Documentary and Short Film (ZINEBI).

The three-member jury of this festival selected Lampa Cu Caciula by Radu Jude as the winner of the Grand Prize. It is a 22-minute road movie about a father and a son relationship.

Radu Jude was the assistant of Cristi Puiu, well-known Romanian director, in the Death of Mr. President.

In animation section the Golden Award went to Tiger by Guilherme Marcondes from Brazil.

The winner of Golden Award in Fiction section was Twilight, a co production of Russia and USA, by Victoria Gamburg.

The Golden Award of Documentary section was for three films: Nikita and Nikita (Maria Tyulyaeva) from Russia, Jaba (Andereas Bolm) from Germany, and Uku Ukai (Audrius Stonys) from Lithuania.

The Grand Prize for Spanish Films went to Abandonatii by Joan Soler and The Grand Prize for Basque Films was for Spanish Summer by Victor Gonzalez Rubio.

Bilbao Festival was held from 27 November to 2 December 2006 and some films from 41 countries were participated in it.

This year, the Iranian films in this festival were Noor Dideh, a short film by Behfar Karimi and Sedaye Paye Ab and animation by Alireza Darvish.
