Short Film News (SFN)- Yesterday, Nov 21, Lisbon Cinematec, had an special guest: Kamran Shirdel, the worldwide famous Iranian documentary filmmaker.
Shirdel, who is in Portugal for screening his films and also as a jury member in FIKE Film Festival, went to Lisbon Cinematec together with Joao Paulo Macedo, the Festival Director, Marjan Riahi, the Manager of SFN, Hadi Afarideh, the young Iranian filmmaker.
After screening his films, Dr. Joao Benard Da Costa, the President of Portugese Cinemateque praised the importance of Iranian new cinema school and its ever present and talented filmmakers and mentioned Mr Shirdel as one of the main founders of this new and brilliant school of filmmaling that has introduced names such as Abbas Kiarosatami, Jafar Panahi, Raklhshan Banietemad, Bahman Ghobadi and many others to the world.
Shirdel also thanked Evora - Fike film festival director and his team and The president of Cinemateca for their kind hospitality and sustaining efforts and had some short introductory approach to the time and political-economical conditions in which the films were produced and confiscated in 1965 to 68 before the revolution.
Mr. shirdel then was invited to visit the Cinemateca main venues and be photographed for the foto archive of Cinemateca in different places of the historical building.
Portugese CINEMATECA is worldwide famous for its immense, beautiful and historical building, for the great patrimony of films from all around the world collected in its archives, and for the precision its programmes are designed and released everyday in the year!
