FIDMARSEILLE 2006 Awards

Short Film News- The 17th edition of FIDMARSEILLE, international documentary film festival of Marseille, France was held from 6 to 11 July, 2006.

From among the 20 films in the international competition section, the 5-member international jury awarded O Fim E O Pricipio by the Brazilian director, Eduardo Coutinh and La-bas, the renowned Chantal Akerman's latest film.

The French competition prize also went to Les Hommes  by the French director, Ariane Michel.

While specially mentioning the Colombian film, Paraiso, by Felipe Guerrero, the jury for the 1st film prize awarded Tian Li by the Chinese director, Song Tian.

In Marseille Festival 2006, Georges de Beauregard Prizes went to El Comite by Mateo Herrera from Ecuador in the international competition section, and to La Prisonniere Du Pont Aux Dions by Gael Lepingle in the French competition section.

Nejib Belkadhi's VHS Kahloucha from Tunisia got the public libraries prize, and Vladimir Leon from France received the cinema research national group prize (GNCR) which comes in the form of assistance to the distribution of his film, Le Brahmane Du Komintern, to cinemas.

Manon de Boer from the Netherlands present in Marseille Festival 2006 with the film Resonating Surfaces was awarded the Marseille Esperance Prize.
