Short Film News (SFN) - Oscar-nominated Canadian documentary filmmaker, Harry Rasky, 78, died in a hospital in Toronto.
He was known for his documentary about great artists including Tennessee Williams, Marc Chagall, Arthur Miller, Leonard Cohen and etc.
Rasky co-founded the news documentary department at the public broadcaster, where he worked as a reporter and producer in the 50's and 60's.
He made some 40 documentaries over his career and was nominated in Academy Awards for his documentary, Homage to Chagall: The Colors of Love in 1977.
Rasky won more than 200 international prizes and citations for his features and TV movies, including the Venice Film Award, the Golden Eagle, several Peabody awards and Emmys.
